Doctoral programmes at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham are designed to develop outstanding educational researchers with a wide range of research skills as well as in-depth knowledge and practical understanding and expertise in their chosen field of educational research. Candidates seeking admission can enroll in the Amrita campuses at Amaravati, Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Kochi, Mysuru and Chennai. Amrita has emerged as the seventh ranked university in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2024
Eligible candidates shall be provided a variety of research and teaching assistant scholarships. Amrita has a pool of outstanding faculty members with Doctorates from globally known Institutions and Universities who continuously engage in research with partners across the world.
Candidates with UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), SLET, GATE, teacher fellowship or who have passed M.Phil. programme (stipulated conditions) are exempted from the Entrance Test, but are required to pass Ph. D. course work and other conditions laid down by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

Admission to the PhD in Management course is based on an entrance test followed by an interview conducted by Amrita. Candidates with UGC-NET (including JRF), UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF), SLET, GATE, teacher fellowship or having passed M.Phil. programme are exempted from the entrance test but are required to pass PhD course work and meet other conditions laid down by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Applicants who have a full-time appointment at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham or at another academic or R&D organization are eligible to apply for part-time admission.
Master’s degree in Arts, Science or Management (or) a Postgraduate diploma in Management (recognized by either the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or the All-India Council on Technical Education (AICTE) as equivalent to an MBA) or any degree equivalent, with 60% marks. Examples of Master’s degree include: ME, M. Tech., M. Sc., MCA, MA, M.Com, MFA, MJMC, MSW, MD, MS, DNB, MDS, MPharm, PharmD, MBBS/BAMS plus 2 yr. PG Diploma, MS by Research and MPhil.
All applicants are expected to have strong academic records. Recognized professional degrees such as CA, AICWA or ACS or its equivalent, with 55% marks are also acceptable
Part-time students are permitted to proceed at a slower pace in completing their doctoral requirements.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has informed that Part-time Ph.D. programme on Social Science subject will be available for research topics only if they have a management angle to it and Social Science subject can only be taken up with Amrita School of Business. The degree awarded will be a Ph.D. in management.
CHRIST (Deemed to be University), founded in 1969 as Christ College, is rooted in the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a 19th-century social reformer. Managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the university has been a leader in Indian higher education, introducing innovative curricula, emphasizing academic discipline, and promoting holistic education.
