Labour Codes
One-Day Training Programme by
Centre for Management Development (CMD Kerala)
In November 2025, the Government of India implemented a landmark reform by enforcing
four new Labour Codes, replacing 29 fragmented and outdated labour laws.
This reform represents one of the most significant transformations in labour legislation
since Independence, aimed at simplifying compliance, expanding social security coverage,
strengthening worker protection, and modernising labour governance.
The Labour Codes provide a consolidated legal framework governing employment relationships,
wages, social security, workplace safety, and industrial relations—ensuring a balanced,
transparent, and future-ready labour ecosystem.
The Four Labour Codes
- Code on Wages, 2019
- Industrial Relations Code, 2020
- Code on Social Security, 2020
- Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020
Key Recent Changes
- Mandatory appointment letters and timely wage payments
